The University of Connecticut (UConn) recently met onsite at the Steamship Navigation Cleanup Project as part of a partnership made available through the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s Technical Assistance to Brownfields (TAB) Program.

Through this no-cost partnership, UConn will develop a Reuse and Redevelopment Assessment for the property based on current site conditions, available resources, and the Town of Warren’s existing land use standards.

The assessment will assist the Town and its engineering consultant, Sevee & Maher Engineers (SME), as they evaluate potential future uses for the property and develop meaningful solutions for the site as environmental hazards are addressed through the cleanup project.

The Town plans to host a public meeting later this year to present the Reuse and Redevelopment Assessment. The meeting will provide residents with an opportunity to learn more about the project, hear about potential options for the future of the property, and ask questions.
